When you attach multiple files to a form, how those files are handled depends on how the form was set up and how you choose to review them. This article explains the different scenarios.
Separate Files (The Standard Method)
This is the most common setup. The form creator adds multiple separate "Attachment" questions.
- How it works for the user: They see a separate "Upload" button for each required document (e.g., one for a Birth Certificate and another for a Vaccination Record).
- How it works for you: Each file is stored and displayed in its own separate field on the response page. You can view, download, and manage each file individually.
One Field, Multiple Files (The Grouped Method)
The form creator can enable a special option on a single Attachment question: "Allow multiple image files."
- How it works for the user: They see one upload button. They can click it multiple times to attach several files (like adding multiple photos to an email).
- Limitation: This option only supports image files (JPG, PNG) and PDFs.
- How it works for you: All files are grouped under that single question. You can download them all together as a ZIP file or view them individually.
The Bulk Download Option (The Combined Report)
When you need a complete record of a response, you can use the "Download PDF" feature.
- How it works: This option doesn't change how files are stored. Instead, when you download a response as a PDF, the system automatically creates a single, combined document.
- What's included: This PDF will contain all the answers from the form, plus all the uploaded files embedded directly into the document.
