Operoo predominantly uses email addresses to communicate with parents. It also uses SMS from time to time.
When using Operoo integrated with another system, such as student information or LMS, Operoo will read the parent contacts from that system (if available). Therefore, it is highly recommended that during a rollout of the Operoo system, that parent email addresses, as well as cell/mobile phone numbers are as complete and as accurate as possible in the system Operoo is syncing with.
Once the system has read in the email addresses and/or cell/mobile numbers, it will be able to send messages to each parent, including instructions for them to sign in to their accounts.
WHAT IF I ONLY HAVE THE PARENT CELL/MOBILE PHONE?
Operoo will send SMS to the parent providing a link to the sign-up page.
WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A PARENT EMAIL OR CELL/MOBILE PHONE?
You can print a page for parents that provides their username and a temporary password. The parent will be required to create their own password after logging in.
- Use the 'Print credentials' feature to create a PDF page for each parent contact. Access this via the 'User Accounts' page where you can print a page for all parent contacts or individual parent contacts.
3. As part of the sign-up process, parents will be asked for their email address and cell/mobile phone if they are not in Operoo already. This information will be updated in the Operoo system and then available for future communications with the parent.
